Barrett Township Historical Society

The Barrett Township Historical Society operates out of the beautifully restored Cresco Station Museum in Cresco, offering visitors a fascinating look into the rich heritage of the Barrett Township area. Housed in a historic railroad station originally built in the mid-1880s, the museum preserves local artifacts, research materials, and displays that chronicle the region’s past. Visitors often note that it is a wonderful place to explore local history, featuring exhibits like a converted country store in the old baggage room and detailed accounts of the railway eras.

In addition to its permanent historical displays, the museum actively engages the community by sponsoring art shows on the second Sunday of each month and hosting musical programs on the fourth Sunday from June through September. The building itself stands as a testament to dedicated preservation efforts by the Weiler Family Foundation, saving the structure from abandonment and returning it to the community as a vibrant cultural resource.
